Evaluations
The Psychological and Educational Alliance for Children tailors each evaluation to the needs of the student and gives families a detailed cognitive and/or academic profile of strengths and areas that require support. The final consultation provides families with individualized recommendations. The list below is not comprehensive. Please call for a free phone consultation.
NOTE: While we specialize in children and adolescents, we are happy to help adults who suspect they have an undiagnosed disorder.
Basic IQ Test
Basic IQ testing is available for school admissions or other circumstances in which only IQ test scores are needed and a comprehensive report is not required.
Basic ADHD Evaluation
When you do not have concerns about your child's academic performance but do have concerns about attention, a basic ADHD evaluation is recommended.
Comprehensive ADHD Evaluation
A comprehensive ADHD evaluation is recommended when parents want to understand their child's cognitive strengths and weaknesses in addition to evaluating their attention. Understanding a student's cognitive abilities can be useful in developing strategies to overcome challenges. Common concerns include difficulty with listening, sitting still, following instructions, getting started on tasks, and emotion regulation.
Psychoeducational Evaluation
A comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation is recommended when a student is not meeting academic expectations or requires excessive effort in order to meet expectations. The type of psychoeducational evaluation depends on the specific difficulties the student is experiencing. Common concerns include difficulty with reading, spelling, math, the time it takes to complete assignments, and academic stress or avoidance.
Psychological Assessment
Psychological assessments are available for children and adolescents showing signs of psychological distress or behavior problems that are independent of the child's academic performance.
